Pedigrees of Chelsea Whippets

Mimi's story is bittersweet.  Whelped in South Africa on Christmas day of 2003 and bred by my dear friend Jean Pascal Botella and his partner Antonio Vilaverde.  It became apparent very early in her life that Mimi was special.  As she matured to say she lived up to her early promise is an understatement!  Owner/handled she quickly conquered the land of her birth.  Before she was 2 years old she was a multiple Specialty winner and all breed BIS winner.  At the time of Jean Pascal's untimely and tragic death Mimi was the #1 Whippet, #1 Hound and #4 in the all breed rankings.  In the depth of Antonio's grief he decided the only place for Mimi to go was to me in America.  I am deeply indebted to Antonio for this heartbreaking  decision. Antonio explained to me that Jean Pascal would have wanted their signature Whippet, Mimi, to come to me for he considered me his mentor. I am also VERY thankful for my dear friends Kerri McDonald and Joetta Melton who helped me import her.  Without their assistance Mimi would not be here.

Mimi's first show in America (one month after her importation to this country) was the 2006 AWC National Specialty.  To thunderous applause she was victorious and was awarded WB by breeder/judge Mr. Bo Bengtson (Bohem).  She followed that up a month later by winning her second Specialty major under breeder/judge Ms Nenne Runsten (Airescot). Her third Specialty major came under Australian breeder/judge Mr. Raymond Barter.

While Mimi is techincally a South African import, she is an all American girl by pedigree.  She looks as though she could have been born at Chelsea.  Her smooth lines and generous angles are what I am known for and what I cherish in Mimi.  We LOVE her.
